Break the preconceived Loving another writer and imitating them is an act of admiration, but it is not the organic production we all have the ability to partake in. We are all individuals lost in the sea of Man, an advanced species that has the ability to contemplate ideas through imagination and creativity, two of the most evolutionary advances we have endorsed ourselves within. Being individuals, we all have the ability to create something new, something beautiful. Our writing is a reflection of Self. Our selves are manufactured through genetics and our environment, and no other individual is specifically similar to you. Our subjective realities may correlate in some manner, through similar upbringings or genetics, but no one else is you. Break the preconceived labels that literature is subjected to. Create from your Self! Produce writing that reflects upon you, not another writer. We all are influenced and shaped, as writers, by our reading, but if we can break free of being so malleable, we can create and build beautiful pieces of literature that will shape future generations and minds. Even though this is exactly what we should be trying to break free of, people fall into the trap of emulation. Would you rather be the trapper or trapped? Emulate Self, as no Self is identical to your’s.
