I found an interesting writing challenge. The Trifecta Writing Challenge is simple, and quick to participate in (though I recommend taking your time in writing your submission). It gives the writer the opportunity to submit their work instantly, being processed as a link to the submission post on the writer’s blog. This provides free SEO for the blogger, and gives the opportunity for the writer to spread their work. Here’s my submission to the contest:
Chins:
Youth with grimy
stubbles of black hair
DIY
tailored chins
bristles propping
up, words
sentenced to
death
Pin back layers
of onion eyes
bleeding, but
never crying.
Mantle jaw
churning,
needles piercing
the pulled back flesh
to the dissection table
pouring soul
into the core
where it’s
sentenced to
death.

/ January 5, 2013Deep. (pun intended) … and a little sad. Being a woman I don’t know much about the male experience of growing up, but I get the sense that’s what you’re speaking to here…

/ January 6, 2013my thoughts were how youth get cut down in their prime – often both physically and (nearly always – yes, always) emotionally, in either case, never fulfilling what they were fully meant to be.
admittedly, tough to read, but powerful – no, BECAUSE the imagery was so powerful
